Max Brenner

Used to hang out at this place when I was abroad in Melbourne
Today, I was treated kindly by a classmate

926

Fondue: Caramel, Chocolate and White Chocolate

928

Chocolate Chai Tea πŸ™‚

929

Peanutbutter Shake

923

Crepe

Verdict: 5/5 of us will return.
I had the chocolate chai .. I must say it is very uniquely nice for all those who likes chai tea latte and wants to take the sweetness a notch higher, this is highly recommended. After a few glasses however, it just was too much for me .. Better this be shared πŸ™‚

The fondue was good, chocolate was solid, not those diluted mixed up chocolate or cheapo melted chocolate.

Crepe was also good -> snapped up very fast

For all who needs a quick chocolate fix, try this place! in Melbourne I remember eating the waffles! super awesome there! but I am not too sure about here .. have yet to try! perhaps on the next trip back!

Au Chocolat

Following our lunch, Troopie Plonks and I went to try out this new place called Au Chocolat.

See how huge this place takes up! This is just the restaurant part of it …

I will Β just let the pictures do the talking

We started from here

Display of the macaroons

and many other deserts ++++

So with so many choices, I felt like a kid lost in toy’r’us .. but even better! A HUGE CHOCOLATE SHOP!!! Β .. πŸ™‚

We proceeded to the restaurant part and started our orders. We decided we wanted something to balance out the chocolate drink, so we ordered:

Caramel Apple Skillet topped with walnuts and Vanilla Ice-cream

Have you heard of a literal frozen hot chocolate? frozen hot chocolate does not = to ice chocolate. They are two different things altogether. See, from my experience, ice chocolate means, cold chocolate flavoured milk, cream/sometimes ice-cream and chocolate syrup + powder blended up and topped with ice cream. Frozen hot chocolate is literally, hot chocolate frozen, topped and decked with cream. As below:

Frozen Hot Chocolate

and let me just take a close up of one spoon of this delight

Close up

Chocolate goodness indeed πŸ™‚

Verdict: 2/2 of us will definitely return here! Especially for a chocolate fix! They also serve high tea (which we regret not trying), menu seemed quite extensive.

The apple skillet – I only wished the base was slightly more heated up .. if not for that, overall this dish was pretty good. Nothing to niche pick about but just something nice to go along with this super uberly rich chocolate drink.

The literal Frozen Hot Chocolate is so going down my chocolate drinks dictionary! It was so rich and after one sip, we just started giggling at each other. Immediate Sugar high? Β perhaps. The feeling of bliss – all condensed into this drink πŸ™‚

Food Trail # 1.1 Grin Affair

Our dear troopie shu is going overseas for work .. so since most of us are free / on mc / no need to work , we went on a mini food trail around some parts of Singapore πŸ™‚

I couldn’t make it for lunch, but managed to meet them for tea/ desserts πŸ™‚

This place is quite a hidden and hard place to find – like the entrance of it! as its nicely nested in the HDB flats ..

20120829-001427.jpg

20120829-001441.jpg

and we ordered to share with each other :

20120829-001454.jpg

From the Top: Matcha and azuki bean, Honey Lavender and Blueberry,
Bottom Left : Hazelnut, The lychee passionfruit with sea salt pistachio,

20120829-001509.jpg

Close up πŸ™‚

Verdict: 4/4 of us will return πŸ™‚ for the cakes in the following order: The lychee passionfruit with sea salt pistachio (loved how all the flavours complimented each other), Hazelnut(the coffee tinge kind of balanced out the whole cake nicely) , Honey Lavender and Blueberry (Lavender was abit too over powering), and lastly the matcha and azuki bean ( not a very nice favourite among all of us). A grin affair indeed! πŸ˜€ its so convenient to eat the cake, without having it topple all over! So glad there are 4 of us around to try the different flavours πŸ™‚

Bangkok : #2.3 Mango Tango

So following the full lunch, we headed opposite to what trooper ali recommended : Mango Tango πŸ™‚

shop front πŸ™‚

You can’t miss this place .. because this place has many youngsters queuing up for it! and the place is really small and at a corner πŸ™‚ so be prepared to queue up or try going at odd hours instead maybe?

so we ordered :

and also not forgetting…

Mango Sticky Rice πŸ™‚

Verdict: 5/5 of us will return to this place to eat. We especially enjoyed the Mango sticky rice. What so unique about it is that crispy Mango puff thingy that is scattered on the rice. Although complaints from the troopies was that the rice was quite sweet .. but I think what was awesome was that the mango was even sweeter than the rice! ahhahaa but one of the better mango sticky rice we ate throughout the trip. Highly recommended. πŸ™‚

Bkk : #2.3.1 – snack

we decided to have a pre-dinner snack before heading to check out platinum mall for a while ..
So we explored nearby and went to the paragon food basement..

THIS PLACE IS SO HUGE!!!!
So we bought to share and try

20120825-023359.jpg

20120825-023422.jpg

And troopie philies and I shared the yoghurt:

20120825-023620.jpg

And the rest of the troops bought the assorted milk to try too

20120825-023712.jpg

Thai Milk Tea

20120825-023730.jpg

Matcha (Green tea) Milk

20120825-023749.jpg

Chocolate Milk

Verdict: I think the yoghurt was the best πŸ™‚ hahahaa followed by the matcha, thai milk tea… troopie beat complained the chocolate milk was not thick enough .. so .. Yoghurt the best πŸ˜€

Following that, I had one of my ‘cheated by the picture’ hazelnut ice-cream…

20120825-023923.jpg

20120825-023939.jpg

Ferrero Rocher

This was a ‘*wrinkles nose’ moment.. Hazelnut taste was faint 😦 so a big no for me 😦

Dome

Went to the nearby dome and felt like having something sweet:)

I remember a friend telling me how awesome the apple crumble was, so decided to give it a try πŸ™‚

20120810-232741.jpg

20120810-232811.jpg

Verdict: I would come back for this!! It’s different in that it’s crumble are quite soft? Not as ‘crunchy’ as the usual.. And maybe I say this more in a biased point of view but I like this hot and cold dessert combination πŸ™‚ so thumbs up and no complaints my side πŸ™‚

Dome

Plain vanilla – revisited

I returned to plain vanilla bakery and fulfil my hazelnut cupcake craving.. Decided to buy back home some for he mentai monster since he mentioned he wanted a red velvet cupcake πŸ™‚

20120807-212832.jpg

20120807-212845.jpg

20120807-212857.jpg

Verdict: 1.5/2 of us will return. Mentai monster commented on the cream cheese on the cupcake – he liked it but thought the rest of the flavours were ok. He hated the cinnamon. I also didn’t really like it. I liked my hazelnut. Chocolate chip was too sweet for my liking. Salted caramel was awesome πŸ™‚ but chocolate banana was disappointing.

Strictly Pancakes

I brought trooper wong to try her favourite dish in the world : pancakes.

so I thought the most apt place to bring her would be:

20120718-002153.jpg

So we headed down to princep street p check out this place and shared between us:

20120718-001216.jpg

We also ordered

20120718-001425.jpg

Verdict: 2/2 of us will return! I loved how the pancakes had a little crisp even it being drowned in syrup! The syrup was not too overpowering and the bananas complimented the pancakes quite well. Our pancake monster is quite happy with the pancakes:)

Ending off, I just thought this sign is quite cute and what our attitudes in life could be:

Plain Vanilla Bakery

Our dear mama Phua bought us all cupcakes to share for after dinner snack!! Very sweet of her and the cupcakes looked so pretty!

20120717-234200.jpg

So we have, salted caramel, strawberry, red velvet, dark chocolate, and nutella! πŸ™‚

Verdict: 6/6 of us loved it! I particularly liked the nutella and salted caramel! I think it was not too sweet! I felt the nutella icing was not too heavy on the cream – super likey. They also loved how the size of the cupcake was not too small but just nice πŸ™‚ very happy and blessed stomach πŸ™‚

Have a break! Have a !!

My very dear friend of mine knows my fascination about chestnuts, so she chanced upon this in giant and bought it for me!

20120709-215745.jpg

Am super blessed to have such sweet friends πŸ™‚

20120709-215949.jpg

Verdict: the first bite the chocolate tastes like coffee chocolate. I like the size! It’s so cute and small! And of course the thought behind it πŸ™‚ nice to have once in a while πŸ™‚
