Verdict: 7/7 of us will return
1. Beef was really different from the other types of korean restaurants around. The cut was good and the quality, you can just taste the difference = we were all happy to pay this premium, we ordered two rounds. Both the seasoned and non seasoned beef was good. We had seconds
2. Spicy Chicken was really really spicy ( if your spiciness level goes below …. if you think drinking kim chi stew is the limit for you, do not try this)
3. Egg was good, slightly different texture than a normal chawanmushi, but nonetheless, fluffy, light and has quite a heavy chicken stock taste
5. Pork was good, we ordered two rounds in all. good balance of fats and meat for the pork

*do reserve in advance if possible, because the queue seems to be forever long.

We added a side order of :

Kimchi Pancake

Verdict: 0.5/2 of us will return to this place.

The soup was not as spicy as I thought it would be – our dear chili queen was pretty disappointed.

The kimchi pancake was good, and the beef, we were thinking it would be like bulgogi kind of style and told them to cook all the meat for us, but yup .. Didn’t turn out to be what we expected after all… Even the chicken kinda looked abit sad.

To make up for this! Dessert!!!

Gaia Korean Restaurant

We spontaneously met up for lunch, and decided to satisfy some Korean cravings.  I visited this restaurant for dinner, as recommended by troopie kay’s Korean teacher, but forgot to blog about it :p . So we headed down to Gia, a restaurant nicely tucked in between the whole row of restaurants where kushinbo is ..

Sitting near the entrance

and to start off before our orders came:

Our assorted appetizers

and of course,

Kimchi Pancake to share

For troopie Alicia,

Sundubu set : Spicy Toufu stew & marinated chicken

For troopie mermaid:

Soybean Paste soup & marinated pork

and for myself,

Cold Noodles

Verdict: 3/3 of us will return! 🙂

I read on hungrygowhere about the reviews for this place. They seem to pride their signature dishes in cold handmade noodles.  This is the second time I am eating this style of cold Korean noodles, and I must say the portions are very generous. There are 2 sauces – one a sesame sauce and another is white vinegar, I didn’t really know how to eat this so I think my judgement of the dish will not be very accurate. However, it did have a refreshing feel to it. I like that there are some pear bits to make the dish have an extra ‘cool’ factor towards it. J

We shared the kimchi pancake. The pancake was slightly oily but it was just awesome. Filled with kimchi, not too spicy (if I had to rate the spiciness, it’s probably 3/5 chilli). Saltiness level is agreeable among all of us J

Troopie Mermaid had the Dwenjang Set (Soybean paste soup and marinated pork).  She said the soup was good and the pork was well-flavoured. It was also very tender,  and not too spicy.

Troopie Alicia had the Sundubu Set( Spicy Soft Tofu stew & marinated chicken). She enjoyed her set thoroughly and also mentioned how this lunch set meal is a good deal, although service was a little slow and inattentive :/

After completing the Nike run, my team magix and I, together with close friends went ahead to this korean place to compensate for the 5km ++ that we ran … I was uber hungry, and so was my friends as well .. and just couldnt wait to devour everything that came! I came here the last time around, together with my other trooper as her korean teacher brought her here, together with some of her korean classmates, to let them practice their korean by insisting each of them order a dish in Korean. She then brought us back there and we wacked everything. I think this is one of my favourite Korean Restaurants in Singapore – can’t seem to find any nicer one apart from this one

Our Side dishes

BBq Beef

Beef Steak 🙂

Pork belly Chigae

Talk about good service, this place rawks socks.

She laid it out for us sitting near the BBQ pit

Steamed Egg (Large)

Cooked

and to end off the meal,

Dessert

Verdict: 7/7 of us will definitely return to this place! Service is awesome! Additionally, food is just, to me one of the better Korean restaurants in Singapore.

My close friend has been taking korean classes .. and she had leave that day, so she brought us to a restaurant that she herself brought exchange students from korea to dine at .. and had received well feedbacks from the korean students .. So she suggested we go try that out!

refreshing raddish cubes

this radish cubes saved me entirely throughout the spicy course of the lunch! it was refreshing on its on, and according to my friend, helped levelled out the spiciness of the other food.

Side dishes: Bean sprouts, kimchi, sliced potatoes

Side dish : suspicious black thing, spinach, egg

The chicken was one of the highlights of the meal! All had varying taste. I especially liked the garlic and the spicy one! although the spicy was a little too spicy for me .. but it was those kinda spicy food where you just know its good but hot and yet you can’t stop eating it!

Assorted Chicken: original, Garlic and Spicy

We also ambitiously ordered a hot pot that came in ramen, dumplings, luncheon meat, beamcurd sheets, vegs, rice cakes .. etc It was too much for us.. I wished we had  more people!  we were literally rolling out of the restaurant!! The soup was SUPER SPICY~ for me I was dying while drinking it up!

Hot pot!

I will definitely come back here for the chicken!! and bring more people to try the other food!
