Verdict: 2/3 of us will return.

Coffee: Impressive latte art! My friends had a whale and a bear latte art drawn on their coffees. Taste wise was really ok if you like your after taste to not be so acidic.

Cake: consistent texture.
sweet level: 4/5

Waffle: This was something new that kinda worked. the whitish part is cream cheese, not normal cream.Nonetheless, it was quite solid the waffle, probably due to the chocolate inside. If you like your waffles to have a slightly heavier consistency, I would recommend this one. Crispiness was not compromised even though the mixture was towards the heavy side. 🙂
Just a thought:
1) I think they could try to infuse the cream cheese into the waffle , as I bit into it, there was chocolate inside the waffle, so instead of chocolate, i think if they did it with the cream cheese instead and continued to drizzle the chocolate sauce on the outside, it would have been quite a pleasant surprise.
2) come up with a cream cheese ice-cream equivalent if the above mentioned menthol of infusing the cream cheese is too much of a hassle. Chocolate ice-cream was too much for me.

sweet level: 4/5

Looking forward to return and try the other desserts 🙂

Note* : If i had to measure sweetness level through a cup of milo drink, imagine when making a cup of milo:
Sweet Level (1 being the lowest, 5 being the highest)

  1. Not at all sweet ( = 1tbsp of milo)
  2. Subtle sweet ( = 1.5 tbsp of milo)
  3. Generally Sweet ( = 2 tbsp of milo + 1 tbsp of condensed milk)
  4. Just nice (= 2 tbsp of milo + 1 tbsp of condensed milk + 1 tbsp of sugar)
  5. Too much (= milo (9 tbsp of milo+ 2tbsp of condensed mik and sugar))

Damage: $15-$18 per pax

Decided to check out this place

A hidden gem around the corner!
Becareful if you walk past it, you might just end up missing it :p

Dirty Ronin Sandwhich (Spicy Italian Sauage and Egg in Ciabatta bread)

Dirty Ronin Sandwich (Spicy Italian Sausage and Egg in Ciabatta bread)

Verdict: 2/3 of us will return.

1) Scrambled Eggs were fluffy yet moist and ‘thick’ (does sound weird that both adjectives are placed together)
2) wicked drink -> hmm personally for me, abit too much of the peppermint taste that I can’t taste the balance of the choc and latte
3) Dirty Ronin -> well.. it does look simple and something that you can make at home, but what was the difference was the bread. My friend liked it much

Service here is one of the kind -> no menus and the waitress will come by your table and recite the whole menu for you. We were waving for the attention of one of them, when she missed us and got reprimanded in front of us by her boss. They take service here very seriously and really make the effort to please every customer.

** it does get crowded lunch time/ 2-ish … adding on that the place is pretty small and narrow.. fyi

Miyajima Bites

What do you do I mean staying in a Ryokan .. You have 2 meals covered, and just have to go around exploring ..
Miyajima to me is a quaint small town, a nice getaway to recharge, place for retirees to explore
This place seems to be packed with more Japanese tourists and even school children who make day trips to visit
the UNESCO sight (Torii Gate).

Food Wise, for the Anago and Oysters -> definitely
The Deers you see around are very friendly, they do no bite but!! they seem to like paper for some reason. What I thought was amazing was the deers did not dare to enter the shops/ restaurants

On our way back to take the train to Osaka, We came across this Cafe called Blue Bird Cafe.
I totally  ask you to go inside and have a cuppa and talk to the friendly owner. He started this cafe literally by the road side. As a gimmick and as he managed to expand, he bought into the shop and it looked like his van drove into the shop. LITERALLY.
