We headed down to le meridian hotel for their dinner buffet.. And as part of the buffet, everyone gets A lobster per person done in 4 different styles :
Samabal, braised, cheese and superior stock. Since there was 4 of us, we picked alll but braised.

Lobster in Superior Broth

Cheese Lobster

Sambal Lobster
On top of that, we also have free flow of crab done in many styles: of which we chose :

Chili Crab

Salted Egg Yolk Crab

Black Pepper Crab

Butter Crab
And ok a picture of the buffet table:

And of course to end the night:

Verdict: 3/5 of us will only return for the sashimi.. I enjoyed the swordfish and salmon sashimi 🙂
The lobsters were just ok.. But the crab, among all, I think we enjoyed the salted egg yolk and the chilli crab the most! But ok not the best
The desserts were just mediocre.. But ok I guess that’s buffet style of things 🙂

So we are back to try, as previously mentioned, my colleague is on his quest to eat this all you can eat steamboat!
I am quite excited as this will be my first hong kong style of steam boat!
The practice here is that, you kind of make your own dipping sauce for the steam boat! such a huge array to choose from!!
Interesting base! I never knew century eggs could be used as soup bases!

Beef

Taiwan Meat ball
Indeed the Taiwanese style of meat ball is so different from the Singapore one. Its not only bigger, bouncier, less meatier taste, but it does absorb the soup base quite well!

Goose Intestines
I decided to be adventurous and tried this that they sweared by that is the best steamboat dish ever! But i am sorry it still has that intestine taste.. i didn’t really like it .. but ok at least i tried!
One pleasant surprise that went well with the steamboat, was Ostrich meat! It was surprisingly yummy and tender! it tasted like a mix between beef and chicken!

Ostrich meat
this has been a wonderful encounter with hong kong style steamboat!
I do look forward to it!

we graciously got invited by my mum’s friend to her birthday celebration at Private Affairs 🙂 I must say we went in with an empty stomach, and left rolling out of the restaurant. We had the Buffet Brunch and it was awesome!!!
My favourite was the Eggs Benedict! I loved how he charred the Hollandaise sauce. His wagyu Beef Burger as well – just awesome the truffle mayo! Just I think I couldnt really enjoy it since I was so stuffed. My mum’s friend was very well acquainted with the main chef, so we also ended up getting alot of freebies and things not on the menu.
I will let the pictures do the talking
