she loves her waffles

so we ordered to share:

Verdict: 1/2 of us will return.

French Onion Soup: it was tasteless. I don’t think i really need to elaborate on it further.

waffles: considering this is the second time that my mum has returned, she mentioned how the first time around the waffles were much better -> in terms of the level of fluffiness and crisp. This time around both waffles were just too airy and not very crispy.

Verdict: 6/10 of us will return.
We ordered the set and con-sensually agreed that the glutinous rice was the best dish out of all. (usually quite surprising because the carbohydrates dishes usually are just very ordinary) The moment it was served to the table, the smell of the rice permeated the table. The rice was cooked really well in terms of moisture and chewy-ness.
The rest of the other dishes were good, but all concluded were not something that they will specially go back for it. Although most of the dishes are of standard seriously, but just didn’t really impress us. The rice did, surprisingly.
Would recommend if you have business lunches or Chinese elders. Nice View 🙂

Verdict: 2.5/5 of us will return
1. Maybe partly was too sweet for us ; though the flavours were pretty interesting. I shared the Horlicks shaved ice. I thought was pretty good but just a little too much
2. The Soyabean flavoured one tasted like Mr bean ice-cream-> though I think I prefer Mr bean (I really need to put up the post on it) .. kinda reminds me of blackball
3. The rest of the desserts were not bad

All the cakes were very nice, but I think consensually we thought the Chocolate Macadamia  was slightly flat…
The lemon sponge was very solid but yet not too heavy. My friend who ordered this is not a very sweet tooth, but she finished the whole cake. ( a very good yardstick to measure against).

Honestly the food was just mediocre. Coffee was average. But I guess for the price, its quite the bang for the buck. They do serve quite a bit of local fusion items as well…
We decided we would only come back if we want to chillax over a good book or just people watch/ relax and catch up .. but nope not for the food.

Cebu: #2.2 Ayala Mall

So we headed back to the city (earlier than expected)
and decided to check out ayala mall  (near to our hotel)

We chanced upon Krispy Kreme and saw that they had more new items (compared to Singapore) and decided to go try

Mango Kruffin

Mango Kruffin

Verdict:  2/2 of us definitely will return.
Mango Kruffin : This tasted like a muffin and doughnut mixed together. The batter was thick, but there was cream inside, mango cream to be specific. The mango was really sweet by itself, so after a while couldn’t finish this whole thing. It was just interesting nonetheless. Filipinos really take their sweets very seriously! 🙂

Of course, decided to go and try this place since we were around the vicinity:
Jollibee

(I must say though, it was around .. 4 pm that we decided to go in and order and there were so many people around!!!
we tried to order without rice because we just wanted to try, but some how or rather, they didn’t really allow us to do that
Every meal in Jollibee came with RICE

Verdict: 0/2 of us will return.
We finally tried it but ok, compared to KFC or Popeyes, I think I prefer Popeyes better. My friend said she likes KFC better though hahaha .. but ok at least we got to try this for now

Duck was their specialty but it was just abit bloody to the extent some parts of it had that “birdy-uncooked” taste.
The noodles were good .. hand cut soba is really very different from those instant ones and all ..
we would return for their tempura set instead.

Overall the stay here was pleasant. Comparatively to the Miyajima stay, the hot tub did not have as nice a view. There was only 1 kind of indoor tub.
Food wise, I would say they did take the effort, but probably, was slightly average compared to what we have had but it is slightly above average.
However, the location of the place made up for it ..  they are very nicely situated within town .. so it is quite easy to travel around and find transport.
This would be our 3rd ryokan experience and  .. if this is going to be your first, then i think you would probably have a good time enjoying all the facilities 🙂

Not saying that it all tasted bad or anything, but perhaps not much wow factor we were looking for.
To give them credit, they did put a lot of thought into throwing in ‘mini surprises’ with the way they placed some of the dishes.
nonetheless, this place seems to be very catered towards foreigner’s taste buds as well it feels.

Verdict:
5/5 agreed that what was the best part of this meal, would be the appetisers.
There was so much effort put into the crafting ( near Christmas season) of the food, plating and attention to the details.
Mains however, and subsequently after appetisers was good but did not wow us .

ok.. good night world
