So we woke up in excitement and looked forward to breakfast.
It was quite an experience to sleep on tatami mats and sleep on the floor as well!
to some extent I felt like we were in camp – aka communal bath rooms, communal food, eat and bathe all at the same time within a time frame ..
except we had people to clean up after us, and set out our beds for us 🙂
Dish #1 - pan fried mackeral . on the side is plum and seaweed to be mixed into your rice

So after this glorious breakfast, we headed towards Mount Aso,

we made a quick pit stop by this touristy place the sells sochu .. and my brother went crazy buying almost everything .. we also picked up some snacks to munch along the way. We then proceeded to make our way to the zoo
A Japanese class that wrote in
then we proceeded to lunch. From a list of places I found, we could only go to a selected few because most of them close at 2 for a lunch break .. we headed down to Mingei Chaya Ajikura we tried their speciality local chicken tempura .. but .. I don’t think we really enjoyed it. The meat was tough and hard to bite into
local delicacy - tempura chicken - except the chicken was super tough
chicken karage with the nice rice
Kani Croquette - best out of the rest
