My mum has been raving about this place,

she loves her waffles

so we ordered to share:

French Onion Soup

Cappucino

Banana waffles

Butter and Jam

Classic waffles

Classic waffles

Verdict: 1/2 of us will return.

French Onion Soup: it was tasteless. I don’t think i really need to elaborate on it further.

waffles: considering this is the second time that my mum has returned, she mentioned how the first time around the waffles were much better -> in terms of the level of fluffiness and crisp. This time around both waffles were just too airy and not very crispy.

Damage: $15 per pax

High society for the high class :p

My second visit here with the same trooper, following our so-so dinner. We visited this place before, and the waitress led us back to exactly the same place sitting at the same seats!!!!

So we decided to order something different from our past visit..

Trooper yuns was attracted by the appearance of this when she walked on and ordered

Ispahan: Macaroon with raspberry and lychee marshmallow

I ordered for myself just something simple

20121209-013429.jpg

Apple Crumble

And a mocha

20121209-013514.jpg

Mocha

The ambience of this place is quite nice and chillax.. Especially on a rainy day! Just relax and chill – although I wished the tables were a little higher so its easier to eat.

Verdict: 2/2 of us will return.
It’s a very nice place for dessert and catchup.. And the mocha was pretty decent.
Troopie yun’s cake was exactly what she expected – but better 🙂 the raspberry balanced out the sweetness of the macaroon and the lychee flavoring very well, making it not too sweet overall in slicing through the sweetness.
My apple crumble was just simple – nice and more crumbly = yummy! Apples themselves were not drowning in thick syrup – so was pretty good I would say 🙂

And to end off

Happy birthday my dear trooper! Thank God we are still friends:) May we continue being friends for life 🙂

Tai Cheong Egg Tarts

The common practice here it seems, is when a person leaves the company for good, they will treat everyone to an egg tarts or cakes. This gesture is just to show their appreciation towards their co-workers, as the term ‘shan shui bing’ is being used to express such a feeling.

That aside, I am an Egg Tart lover. I love the hong kong style of thick pastry egg tarts more than anything else, and i am glad to have found my love of my life at : Tai Cheong Bakery ( pleasantly surprised by my troopie)

Lung King Heen

So brother decided to give me a mine ‘farewell’ lunch before hopping on the next flight back to Singapore for good …
so we decided to indulge ourselves in …
a nice meal before take off ..

we ordered to share an executive lunch and some dim sum – ok while writing this post, it feels as if the 2 of us ordered everything off the menu .. almost everything

Overall, I only liked the soup, the abalone tart.. I didn’t think very well of the dim sum .. . I don’t think  I will return back .. Only maybe for the abalone puff, soup the squid dumplings (something different from the usual)..  the view was just fantastically amazing .. redeemed the dinning experience …

Man .. a sad meal before heading home  for good .. nonetheless, it has been a good learning experience. 🙂

Butao Ramen

This is the king of all Hong Kong Ramen I have eaten.

Shop

My brother kept raving about this ramen place that he thinks is better than any other ones he has eaten so far in Hong Kong .. So I decided to go and give it a shot. He warned me that the queuing time is crazy, so I thought I go at an in-between timing, but I still ended up queuing for 1 hour before I could get a seat.

My Order

Condiments to put into Ramen

The end product

I think its pretty awesome!!! Will return to eat it again!!

Ocean Park

For the same reasons as going to disney land , and the rumour that Ocean Park’s Halloween is even scarier, and thrilling and secretly “I-have-not-been-to-ocean-park-more-than-10-years-ago”  .. so .. yups 😕 *gulps

So being noobish me and having not visited Ocean Park since I was a young kid, we went exploring around also  .. so the first stop!!! Panda!!!!

Panda :)

So cute I want to buy them as a pet and keep them in my house .. 🙂

Then .. the excitement began ..

Directions..

I must say the people here took ALOT of effort into scaring you .. Like they were all make-uped and they FOLLOW YOU AROUND THE PARK!!! YES FOLLOW … I ran from some and they chased me like mad – #mental note not to run when the ghosts are chasing .. it just didn’t register .. and maybe it was not that bad because they spoke cantonese and we couldn’t really make out what they were saying in all ;p so anyways. ..

The torture Chamber of the Dragon Emperess

This was the first ride that we went to .. the queue was so crazily long! while queuing we regretted not buying the express queues tickets instead! .. #mental note  – buy the express tickets because the time you spend queuing, you might as well pay so that you can do everything .. It was really freaky! There was one part of it I remembered that there were like gym mats, and as you were walking through, people were pushing from the sides and I felt like I was being squished and ‘ghostly’ ..

Skit

So while queuing for the first ride, there was like skits being put up in cantonese ( pity we just couldn’t understand what they were talking about) so to keep the spookiness and excitement going ..:) I must say Hong Kongers are really sporting .. most of them were dressed up for the occasion! It was really fun to watch and see what people dressed up in and all the Halloween costumes they turned up in. .. then by the time we finished the first ride, it was time for dinner .. before continuing on 🙂 so we went to the near by restaurant and parked ourselves there  before continuing …

green slime drink

over cooked salmon and onion rings

Dessert 🙂

I think i was too over scared with my heart thumping 75% of the time I was just in a super ‘scared’ mode .. i dont think i really enjoyed the food … the food was like … hmms .. must give them credit because they did incorporate the Halloween theme into it .. but I wont come back for the meal .. my salmon was overcooked, salad was a ham mayo salad thing-o ..  I was too full to finish my main, let alone eat dessert .. But I would come back in October, with more guts and maybe with friends to take the rides .. I felt quite bad I was so super terrified in the middle of the rides and kept tugging at my friend’s shirt and screaming (I think he probably got deaf at the end of the night)

Cool

The picture above was what we saw when we were going to take some rides .. we were wondering whats going on? Apparently, the staff that is all dressed up in rollar blades, mentioned he will slide under the legs of these people that are lining up! and these people in rollar blades, they are the scariest!! they will literally chase you right behind (I got chased twice) once they smell fear in you .. for a moment, they reminded me of my new boss when he mentioned that “he will literally EAT ME UP in the market when he knows I am afraid”  .. ok diversion .. back to this .. I thought this was quite a highlight .. they really put in the effort to scare the shits out of you .. and each time they skated behind, you could hear the sparks and see it literally as well!

We visited a few more haunted mansions as well ..

There was one particular one where we had to queue up  .. enter into the haunted house .. then just when you thought it was over, you had to queue again .. and SLIDE DOWN! yes SLIDE down this pitch black hole .. and .. you get split up and have to finish and get through this maze to get out ALL ALONE!!! there was this ghost stationed, and he kept on insisting I go one direction, but I refused to listen thinking he will lead me to a dead end and scare the sheets out of me .. so i went in the opposite direction and landed myself in a dead end :/ .. hahahha .. He must have been pretty pissed at me .. Oh well ;p
quite an experience i must say – I can’t sleep and called up my dear friend in Canada to talk until I could sleep after returning home ..

The Lounge

So I got to know a new friend and .. its been really fun getting to know her! shes been very kind in including me in all her outings and to explore new places to eat and try!!!

An alternative to brunch …

So we decided to have a mini -tai tai- moment and went ahead for high tea! (partly also because we couldn’t get reservations elsewhere in other hotels) and since both of us had to be heading off after high tea for other plans ( yes in continuation of spooky week, my friend decided we should go to check out Ocean Park’s Halloween night – which I hear is 10 times adult scarier than disney’s *gulps)

I think high tea is always enjoyable especially between the ‘hectic-ness’ of life ,  the company as well tops it all 🙂 .. I loved the ambience and can finally learn to understand why most of the hong kongers that I have met and encountered always seem to insist on the importance of view .. It does brighten up the atmosphere and subconsciously make people chillax .. well to me at least..   we were alternating between sweet and salty tiers of food to try  .. We were also served complimentary desserts as well! so can you imagine how filling that high tea was!!!  I loved the scones, the jelly shots the most .. the rest was also not too bad ..

I would definitely come back to see what other seasonal specials they have in accompaniment to their high tea menu 🙂
