My mum brought me to try out this place when we were shopping around paragon. It was newly opened and since we were in our ramen phase, (all influenced by our Japan trip and my brother) we decided to give it shot.
Prior to ordering, because we were seated at a 2 people table, this is one of the first restaurant that I have encountered in Singapore that actually provided us with a bag holder to hang our bags and allow us to sit comfortably. Service super impressed!
Mentai flavoured gyoza
I was super impressed by this suspicious dish.. I had my doubts but I am blown away! This is really good!!! I would return to eat this again!!!
Shio flavoured ramen
Hokkaido style Miso corn buttter Charsiew Ramen
I would return for the shio ramen instead.. I think this miso one was abit too filling for me .. i couldnt finish. The ramen egg passed! Its molten in the middle, not hard boiled. The egg had tasted good on its own as well, because it was kind of cooked in sauce ( its not those ramen eggs that are separately boiled in boiling water)
The good service and gyoza and ramen. Need I go on to say my verdict on this place?

My dad brought my sister and I to try this Bah Chor mee . He was telling us the story behind this man who started this place, about how he started from making bah chor mee, and had a few busniess ventures. Those ventures didn’t work out and he went back into this again and started from scratch… Life does have its ups and downs!
I love Bah Chor mee and I would super crave for this local delight! Its one of my favourite must have local food! So we went and there were very limited things on the menu – we still ended up ordering almost everything anyway.
$5 bowl - mee pok with fish slices
My $3 bowl!!!
Usually all the mee poks came with prawn, but they happen to run out of prawns that day, so they gave me an extra scallop in place (I mean I am not complaining since i super hate prawns) hahahah 🙂
teochew dumpling soup
This soup is awesome! the dumplings inside after a while made the soup very cloudy.. but when drank hot is quite good! before it becomes starchy!
see this mini melting pot of heaven! Oh my goodness makes me think “toufu toufu toufu”!!!
This is my new favourite bah chor mee place to be! I am in heaven 🙂
Their claypot porridges are also quite a super different kinda porridge style. The broth is super awesome!!!
I am so coming back here everytime I need to settle a Bah Chor Mee craving!!!
although I must say, parking can be quite difficult as well – not only that its all parallel, but the road is pretty congested as well!
Ah Guan Mee Pok
69 Syed Alwi Road,
This is a very back dated post.. but i remember writing a post about it because it was one of my highlights 2010 .
I can’t remember exactly the exact name and order of the food, but please enjoy the pictures nonetheless :p hahaha .. Sorry about that, I do sincerely apologise for my forgetfulness in not doing the place enough justice by not making the effort to remember the exact ingredients and order of each surprise..
I all along was under the impression that french food is really for the S sized skinny people that eat spoonfuls per meal .. nonetheless, i must say that i was really full after the meal .. including my whole family.
I was pretty impressed .. The portioning was not only generous, each next dish that came burst with flavours and it felt like New Year’s in my mouth (ok can’t really find another way to describe it) .. On top of the menu, I don’t know was it because we were sitting at the open kitchen, but we had many dishes that were not listed on the menu throughout the whole dinner course
Menu for the Night
Home made Bread and Olive Oil
my white wine to start off
Oyster with bonito – drizzled with Sage, Ocean Leavs and balsamic
Close up of Oyster
Chanterelle, Portobello and dehydrated mesclun and winter black truffle
Egg with potato, poultry jus, winter black truffle and parmesan cheese
Ocean Trout with Artichoke mousse, laid on asparagus violet potato and avruga
Spaghettini with Alba white truffle, Poultry Jus and Parmesan
Wagyu with Daikon
Pre Dessert: Pineapple, lychee, yoghurt, mango and earl grey
Jasmine green tea
sorbet to end the night 🙂
It was just an awesome way to start 2010 🙂 on a super yummy tummy note
My favourites were : The Eggs, The Spachettini and especially the Beef – super loved that pairing . The wine had exactly brought out the sweetness of the wine and (ok maybe I am just a super idiot here) the tenderness of the beef.
The desserts were spectacular in presentation, taste and totally blew my mind away 🙂
I truly respect this place in earning their stars and look forward to returning here.
We decided to try another new place- its one of those restaurants that seem to be tucked away nicely despite being in a prime location, but you won’t try it unless someone suggests and remembers about it
So we ordered our usuals
our place mats
our place mats were those paper that is used for beehoon takeaways at hawker centers? ok .. don’t know if you want to say its creative? or ????
pepperoni and mince meat pizza
This pasta is just bad .. the seafood smell was just so overpowering .. it could have been better with more sauce.
The only redeeming dish was the calamari …
I wont return
